After knitting so many scarfs I had enough of them. I wanted something new. I knit some *edited as not to spoil for friend* and althoug I've finished these I've not yet put them together. After I took this project off the needles I found this great hat pattern It's the Odessa Pattern by Grumperina. I saw it first on one of the best craft blogs ever Slate Blu.
I knit the Odessa hats on circular needles, as stated in the pattern. And this is fantastic as I can take them on the train an knit away without needing a lot of space. I also learned how to knit continental style (in The Netherlands we call it German style). So you now find me quite often on the train working on yet another Odessa. People find it quite intersting yet strange I think. Lol. In these pictures you see the two first ones I've finished. But I've made another one (save for weaving in the treads) it's for my boyfriends god-daughter Bethany. She's seven so I adjusted the pattern and she still has to fit it. I've already treaded beads on the fourth a minty green colour with silver beads.
What I do is go to John Lewis in Bluewater (shopping center) or Oxford Street and have a look in the clearance box. These sometimes contain Rowan Cashsoft DK's for half the money. I've only paid full money for the cream coloured one as that one is for my gran. As you only need one ball for the pattern, you don't need to match dye numbers.
Conclusion: Super knit for confined spaces and/or transport. Fun pattern, great project and not too hard. Yarn can be high quality and cheap. In short: Perfect!!
