This is Rigtje's Scarf. She's my best friend and an absolute gem. I'm so happy she is in my life. Rig is someone who is completly different from myself. She does things I would never do. She say things I would never say. And she thinks things I would never agree with or thought about before. All of this in bad ways and good ways. As I guess is a very human thing. In some things she is way superior in others I am. Yet all that doesn't matter. For some strange reason this imperfect being was directed my way and after a while be became friends. And she is beautiful, glorious even, dispite all her imperfections and all her craziness. What a friend to have. There is no precious material in the world to describe a friend like that, nor any other words. So how do we express we care and love our friends and family: by crafting things for them.
I made this scarf from a wool-less yarn. Rig doesn't like wool and wool doesn't like Rig. So I went to the yarn shop in Amersfoort, The Netherlands (where I used to live at the time). And this was the only yarn they had that didn't contain wool. She wanted a light colour and I liked the way it changed from a greyish brown to a blue. So I knitted this scarf. It took forever and wasn't a nice knit at all. But I'm a great believer in finishing what you started so I did. Plus it was for Rig!!
She seems happy with it, but I'm not. Now that my knitting is getting better I'm a bit annoyed it curls around and I want to block it. I never heard of blocking before and I've never had to do it. But my hands itch when I see this scarf. So next time I'm in Holland I shall see what I can do.
